I am writing this on Saturday, March 10, 2018 and I cannot believe it’s daylight savings TONIGHT, and that it’s been almost a year since I’ve posted. Back in January, I began thinking and praying about a personal theme for 2018. Over the last 3 months, words like vision, sight, seeing and eyes have been coming to my mind. Many times as I pray, my instrumental Pandora station will be playing in the background. I can’t tell you how many times the song, “Be Thou My Vision” would start playing as I was praying! More than anything, I want to have my eyes fixed on Jesus. I don’t know about you, but my mind and heart can be so easily distracted! I desire to have Christ be my vision in 2018.
For a long time, I have wanted to be more intentional about sharing God’s Word with others on the blog. Time constraints along with my perfectionist tendencies have kept me from writing. As I have wrestled with this, God brought my attention back to a little book that has been life changing for me and my family. The book, We Would See Jesus (Discovering God’s Provision for You in Christ)by Roy and Revel Hession is a tiny, yet powerful book. The subject of this book is my heart’s cry and I would love to share it with you over the next 10 weeks. The next ten posts will cover the 9 chapters in the book (plus the preface). Join me on this devotional conversation about what it means to truly see Jesus for who He is in our hearts and lives, along with scripture to meditate on and memorize.
Even if you haven’t read the book, you can follow along, or you can get the book on Amazon here . It is also available on kindle (you can follow the Simply Persuaded Facebook page as well). I am going to close this post with the words from that great hymn “Be Thou My Vision.” Have you asked God for a theme this year? I know it’s already March, but better late than never! 🙂 Maybe He would give you this theme as He has me.
Be Thou My Vision
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart. Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art! Thou my best thought, by day or by night. Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light!
Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word, I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord! Thou my great Father, I Thy true son, Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.
Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise. Thou mine inheritance, now and always. Thou and Thou only, first in my heart. High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art!
High King of Heaven, my victory won! I will reach Heaven’s joys through Christ Your Son! Heart of my own heart whatever befall, still be my Vision, O Ruler of all! (Lyrics:Dallan Forgaill)
Hey Stephanie,
Love reading your blog! Such thought provoking words of wisdom from a beautiful Christian young woman! Be Thou My Vision was sang at DeLena’s wedding-her favorite song 🙂 Such a powerful message…. King of Heaven, my victory won! I will reach Heaven’s joys through Christ Your Son! Heart of my own heart whatever befall, still be my Vision, O Ruler of all! Thank you Stephanie-love you!!!

Your commitment to keeping your eyes fixed on Jesus is encouraging to me, also distracted from my walk with my Redeemer King far more often than I care to admit. I look forward to your upcoming series of blog entries. Be blessed in the “doing” of this adventure in Christ!
